Applying for Telecare
To apply, contact the Adult Social Care Team using the contact us on the right of the page. If you are eligible an assessing worker will carry out a home visit to assess for the service and discuss how the system operates.
How it works
Most of our Telecare equipment requires a unit. Your unit is connected to an active landline telephone socket and a nearby mains power socket.
You can summon assistance by either pressing the button on your unit or your pendant. If other equipment is provided, the sensor/detector will automatically raise an alert if required.
- our advisors will attempt to talk to you through a loudspeaker in your unit
- if required, our advisors will summon assistance from your volunteer responders, Telecare responders and, if necessary, the emergency services.
Supporting your health with technology
There are additional types of assistive technology to support people with:
- long-term health conditions
- more complex disabilities
- cognitive problems
Mobile Emergency Care Service enables vulnerable people the ability to summon help and assistance by pressing a button which can be worn around their neck, wrist or clipped onto clothing.
We continue to provide MECS along with an extensive range of other technology - all of which is referred to as Telecare.
